CLIENT: NOOR ELKHALDI
PROJECT: COVER ART FOR THE ARAB-AMERICAN PSYCHO PODCAST
The Arab-American Psycho podcast is an homage to the cult classic movie American Psycho, where Noor has unfiltered conversations about identity, relationships, and all sorts of interesting topics with cool guests like skincare and music.
The client wanted the cover art to resemble the fluidity and beauty of a fashion illustration while having some edgy elements to echo back to the American Psycho movie.
The portrait of Noor Elkhaldi was created on nideggen paper with watercolor, gouache, sumi ink, and chalk pastels. The splatters were created separately with sumi ink on tracing paper. Both elements were scanned and composed in Photoshop.

During the creation process, Noor pointed out that I had illustrated the neckline of her blouse lower than depicted in her reference photo. She noted that it wasn’t accurate to her dress standards and that it would be misleading to her audience. The mistake was fixed in Photoshop.
