Ryan Lo's Chinatown inspired collection was a feast for the eyes. Each piece was a quilt of patterns and textures. The choice of colors were a fun creation of vibrant and soft. There was so much for your eye to catch, but what really drew me in was the shoes.
I loved the heels with the florals, gems, and Chinese patterned straps paired with knit ribbed socks that were topped with pom poms. The combination is just so fun and beautiful!
This was my first time drawing shoes. I so easily pass up the opportunity because I favor clothes, and because drawing feet is such a challenge. It's similar to drawing hands. You have to have the proportions down or you just end up with this beautiful figure with monster hands and feet. Seriously, monstrous! Once you get proportion down, then you have to learn how to draw hands and feet in perspective. The blood vessels I've popped trying to figure this out! Seriously, it takes practice. But once you figure it out, you can stylize it and, boom, drawing hands and feet are a breeze. Now, I'm obsessed. For realzzz obsessed! So look forward to more shoe illustrations! Woot woot!
