After the Holidays, things got kind of busy. So please accuse my absence the past few weeks. On New Year’s Eve, I got a call from Sara Urquhart, founder and director of Alt Summit, asking me if I could do chalk murals for the conference! Without hesitation, I accepted and then I started my rough three week journey to designing these murals! Oh by the way, I had a full time job designing and illustrating for Blickenstaff’s. So I started my year off with quite the hustle and bustle. I’ve never been so happy for January to be over (and today’s my birthday and I completely had to throw it aside to get things done and I loove birthdays)! However, I can’t help but love the craziness I got myself into! It was such a rush…although I probably won’t EVER do it again. Ah, the life of an artist!
The conference was amazing! I started my days off at 5:30 in the morning to get the murals done (the murals changed every day) just in time to attend the sessions. I meet some amazing people, including my fashion illustrator love Garance Dore (I want to be just like her)! Oh and the food and parties, all amazing! Needless to say, by the time the conference ended, all the illustrating, learning, and partying hit me by seven Saturday evening and I crashed hard! I learned so much at Alt and I meet way too cool bloggers that I hope to collaborate with in the future! When I got that call from Sara, I had a feeling that 2014 was going to be spectacular. There are opportunities out there my friends! Seek them out, take them, and then work your butt off!
